No. 4 Tigers sweep University of Pikeville to start MSC schedule with 2-0 record

ASHLAND, Ky. — In the second Mid-South Conference match in as many days, No. 4 Campbellsville men's tennis swept University of Pikeville on Sunday, 9-0.
 
The Tigers earned three forfeit points at No. 3 doubles and Nos. 5-6 singles, but Campbellsville dominated for the most part.
 
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead after Chrys Castro and Alejandro Reyes won 8-6 at the top-seeded doubles. Peter Alonso and Alex Spalding then teamed up at No. 2 doubles to win 8-2.
 
In singles, the lone match that CU had any trouble with was at No. 1. Castro lost the first set, 6-3 but rallied to win the second at 6-3. In the tiebreak pro set, Castro won 10-4.
 
Reyes earned a 6-3, 6-4 win, while Alonso won 7-6, 6-2. Mehdi Bichiri swept his competition, 6-0, 6-0 as well.
 
The Tigers will now travel to No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett College on Wednesday, March 14. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
