DANVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers remained unbeaten after holding off Centre College on Saturday night to grab a 5-4 victory on the road in Danville, Ky.
Kaede Amano and
Majella Nobile started the match with an 8-3 win over Abigail Kent and Aliza Williams at No. 1 doubles. The Colonels tied up the match after Zena Maddux and Kenny Snow won 8-2 against
Brooklyn Harris and
Bailey Decker at No. 3 doubles.
Campbellsville earned a 2-1 lead in the match after
Bolor Enkhbayar and
Grace Rowe edged Caroline Stallings and Emily Zelichenok at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
Heading into singles, the match was tied at two points each after the Lady Tigers defaulted at No. 6 singles. Amano and Enkhbayar put Campbellsville on the brink of winning the match with two straight-set wins. At top-seeded singles, Amano beat Kent 6-1, 6-1 and then Enkhbayar grabbed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles against Williams.
Maddux won her second match of the day after beating Decker at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and make it a one-point contest with just two matches left.
Nobile put an end to the Colonels comeback after erasing a set deficit to rally and win, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles to clinch the win for the Lady Tigers. With the match in hand, Zelichenok beat Harris 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, but Campbellsville won the dual 5-4.
The Lady Tigers are back in action at home on Tuesday against Lake Superior State University at 3 p.m. ET.
