No. 4 Tigers earn first victory over Top 25 opponent defeating No. 17 Asbury

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — Tiger tennis continued its undefeated mark with its first victory over a Top 25 opponents, as No. 4 Campbellsville won 7-2 over No. 17 Asbury on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Campbellsville dropped only two matches – all of them coming in singles.
 
The Tigers (6-0) started with a clean sweep in doubles. No. 5 Alejandro Reyes and Chrys Castro defeated No. 23 Josh Turnquest and Choopat Suvimolstean.
 
At No. 2 doubles, Martin Munoz and reigning NCCAA Player of the Week Blayze O'Keefe took down Aqulle Trotman and Julian Tellez, 8-3. The Tigers secured a 3-0 match lead after a 8-6 win by Pablo Alonso Munoz and Mehdi Bichiri.
 
In singles, Reyes gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory, while Alonso Munoz secured the victory for CU with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
 
The two losses came at No. 1 singles, as Chrys Castro lost his first singles match of the regular season and Bichiri also lost at No. 6 singles.
 
Campbellsville now opens 2018 Mid-South Conference play this weekend on the road. The Tigers travel to Shawnee State and Pikeville on March 10 and 11, respectively.
