CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's tennis team wrapped up its 2018 non-conference schedule with a 9-0 victory over Marian University on Senior Day.
Prior to the match, the Tigers honored seniors
Chrys Castro and
Mehdi Bichiri as the duo played their final match at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
Starting the dual, Castro and
Blayze O'Keefe won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles over Ian Deiters and Nicholas Marroquin, while
Martin Munoz and
Alex Spalding teamed up at No. 3 doubles and defeated Eric Blessing and Max Ismoilov, 8-1.
Campbellsville took a 3-0 lead in the match after
Alejandro Reyes and
Pablo Alonso Munoz earned an 8-4 decision at second-seeded doubles over Nathan Bogle and Alex Wittenbaum.
Castro opened up singles competition with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Bogle at No. 1 singles to give the Tigers a 4-0 advantage. O'Keefe earned the clinching point for Campbellsville after taking down Deiters at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Rounding the match the victory in hand, Bichiri won his final home contest, 6-2, 6-4 over Ismoilov, followed by Alonso Munoz winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. The final two team points for the Tigers came with Spalding earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles and Munoz picking up a 6-1, 7-5 in at No. 4 singles to seal the 9-0 victory for Campbellsville.
The final week of the regular season continues on Wednesday with the Tigers traveling to University of the Cumberlands for a 1 p.m. ET match in Williamsburg, Ky.
