WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Lady Tiger tennis dropped their third match in four tries and their first Mid-South Conference match of the season as University of the Cumberlands upset the Lady Tigers, 5-4.
Campbellsville (11-5, 4-1 MSC) got behind early after dropping two of the three doubles matches. The lone win came at No. 2 doubles as
Grace Rowe and
Kaede Amano dominated Haley Mahan and Hannah Wampler, 8-1.
The Lady Tigers them made it interesting. CU won the top three singles-seeded matches. Amano won in straight sets over Tomomi Nagao, 6-1, 6-3, while
Bolor Enkhbayar pulled out a close match over Jaclyn Jewell, 7-6, 6-2.
Majella Nobile kept the pedal to the floor to give Campbellsville a 4-2 dual lead over Cumberlands after a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles but the wheels fell off for the Lady Tigers the rest of the way.
Cumberlands swept Nos. 4-6 singles to pull the upset. Rowe pulled out a first-set win over Denee Lyttle, 6-1 but then fell in straight sets after that, 6-0, 6-0.
Brooklyn Harris and
Bailey Decker both lost at Nos. 5-6, respectively, as Harrid was only able to pull out one point in the first set.
Campbellsville now has its final MSC dual on Friday, April 13 as CU travels to Lindsey Wilson College to round out the season. First serve goes up from Columbia, Ky. at 3 p.m. ET.
