COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's tennis team concluded its regular-season schedule with a 7-2 loss on the road at No. 4 Lindsey Wilson College on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers conclude their season with a record of 12-5 overall and finished at 3-3 in the Mid-South Conference.
The Blue Raiders got off to a strong start winning all three doubles matches. Edberg Espinoza and Steven Espinoza defeated
Chrys Castro and
Adrian Sabrojo at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. At No. 2 doubles,
Blayze O'Keefe and
Martin Munoz dropped an 8-6 decision to Ivan Solans Diaz and Javier Raya.
Rounding out the action in doubles,
Alejandro Reyes and
Pablo Alonso Munoz suffered a narrow 9-7 loss to the fifth-ranked doubles team in the NAIA in Denis Porcic and Camilo Erazo.
Starting singles action with a top-11 matchup, fifth-ranked Porcic beat 11th-ranked Reyes at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Lindsey Wilson clinched the match with five-straight points to start the day after Erazo beat Castro at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
O'Keefe got the Tigers on the board with a three-set win over Solans Diaz, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-2) at No. 3 singles. With the match already in hand, Edberg Espinoza won, 6-0, 6-2 over No. 34 Sabrojo at No. 4 singles and then Raya defeated Alonso Munoz in three sets, 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
Campbellsville's final point was at No. 6 singles, where Munoz won 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 over Steven Espinoza as the Tigers suffered a 7-2 loss to finish the regular season.
Next up, Campbellsville will compete in the Mid-South Conference Tournament starting on Friday, April 20 in Bowling Green, Ky.
