Alonso Munoz clinches 5-1 victory for No. 9 Men’s Tennis in MSC Quarterfinals against Georgetown

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Campbellsville's men's tennis team posted a 5-1 victory in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament against fifth-seeded Georgetown College on Friday morning at Warren East High School.
 
Following the victory, Campbellsville (13-5) now faces top-seeded Lindsey Wilson College in the tournament semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET from Warren East High School. The matchup on Saturday is a rematch of the 2017 MSC Tournament Final, where Campbellsville won, 5-4, to win its first MSC Tournament title.
 
Alejandro Reyes and Adrian Sabrojo put Campbellsville on top early with an 8-4 victory over Georgetown's (6-12) Cole McCreary and Hunter Nosek at No. 2 doubles. Tristan Nosek and Ryo Takeda evened the match at one after taking No. 1 doubles, 8-5, over Chrys Castro and Blayze O'Keefe.
 
In the decisive doubles match at No. 3 doubles, Pablo Alonso Munoz and Martin Munoz edged Phillip Hoeper and A.J. Berk, 8-6, to give Campbellsville a 2-1 lead heading into singles competition.
 
Sabrojo put Campbellsville ahead by two points, 3-1, after beating Hunter Nosek, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Munoz put Campbellsville on the brink of winning the match after earning a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles against Isaac Mathis.
 
Campbellsville won three-straight singles matches to earn a 5-1 victory after Alonso Munoz won, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
 
In the three unfinished matches, O'Keefe and Castro were up a set and leading in the second set at No. 3 and No. 2 singles. At No. 1 singles, Reyes was down a set, but was leading Takeda in the second set.
 
With the victory, Campbellsville moves into the semifinals of the conference tournament for the seventh-straight season.
 
Campbellsville now takes on top-seeded Lindsey Wilson at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday from Warren East High School.
