Lady Tiger softball to host Shawnee State University for Senior Weekend

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After sweeping rival Georgetown College in a pair of wild endings, No. 4 Lady Tiger softball returns to Hord Field at Veterans Memorial Park for Senior Weekend against the Shawnee State Bears.

The Lady Tigers and Bears have a four-game set on the docket this weekend, starting Friday, April 20 at 2 p.m. ET. Saturday's doubleheader will start at Noon ET and Senior Day activities will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m.

All four games, including Senior Day, will air on the Campbellsville University Sports Network.

Senior Class is four wins away from being the all-time winningest class in CU history:
Neely Quint, Rebecca Miller, Brianna Scott and Jacqueline Roof will suit up in the maroon and grey at Veterans Memorial Park one final time this weekend. This quartet of Lady Tigers has led CU to a 162-49 record over the last four years and is four wins away from tying the mark of 166 wins by the 2012 class.

Each senior brings something to the team that is different. Neely Quint has worked herself into being arguably the best pitcher in the country with a perfect 23-0 record.

Rebecca Miller has battled injuries her entire career but has become the ultimate team player. Miller, who has played three different defensive positions this season, leads the team with 22 sacrifice bunts on the year and is a career .310 hitter.

Scott has struggled during her senior year but boasts a .413 on base percentage after being walked 15 teams and hit by a pitch 16 times. In her career, Scott is also a .300 hitter at .303.

Roof has made the biggest impact on the offensive side. The two-time MSC Player of the Year and the 2015 Freshman of the Year, is currently the program's leader in hitting with a career. 400 average. In addition, she's scored a total of 202 runs which is also tops in program history.

This senior class also helped lead Campbellsville to its first World Series berth in 2015. Even though a few players that started with this class in 2015 have moved on, the top four hitters in the batting order during the World Series run were all freshman that year.

Magic Number to clinch is now four:
CU is looking for its eighth Mid-South Conference regular season title in program history and once again it will depend on if Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown make-up two missed games from March.

Scenario #1 - If Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown make-up their series, the Lady Tigers need to win five of their final 10 games of the season to clinch.

Scenario #2 – If Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown do not make-up their series, the Lady Tigers only need to win four of their final eight games of the season.

Scenario #3 – If Lindsey Wilson loses two or more games in their final eight, and Campbellsville wins four games, the Lady Tigers clinch.

Neely Perfect with another win AND a save:
It's one thing to go through your senior year with a perfect record but to put it on the line twice in one day will put a lot of pressure on anyone. Neely Quint improved her record to 23-0 thanks to Alexis Smith's walk-off home run in game one vs. Georgetown on Wednesday. And in game two, Quint came to the rescue in the sixth inning to earn a four-out save.

Overall, Quint leads the country with 23 wins and is eighth by allowing 0.6 walks per game. She also leads the MSC with a 1.22 ERA, second in opponents' batting average (.227), first in innings pitched (143) and second in hits allowed per game (5.8).

Roof is tearing up MSC pitching:
Roof, the two-time MSC Player of the Year, has upped her average from the low 300s to a team-high .394 in the last 20 games. The last 20 games, which have been all Mid-South Conference contests, Roof is hitting .477 by going 31-of-65. In addition, she's tallied five of her seven homers in that span and drove in 18 of her 28 runs.

Humphrey's streak is snapped:
Humphrey did not reach base in game one vs. Georgetown on Wednesday and that snapped a 24-game streak of at least reaching via a hit, walk or HBP. It also broke a seven-game hit streak. Humphrey made up for it in a big way in game two vs. Georgetown by launching her ninth home run of the season. Overall, Humphrey has reached base in 26 of the 40 games she's played in this year and is hitting .385. Her nine home runs are tied for the team-high with Alexis Smith – both hit solo HRs yesterday – and her 40 RBI is second behind Smith's 44.

Scouting Shawnee State:
The Bears enter the weekend with a 22-16 record and 9-11 inside conference play – which is fourth behind Lindsey Wilson (13-5) and Georgetown (10-7). The Bears are in front of UPIKE (7-9), Cumberlands (7-13), Cumberland University (6-14) and Kentucky Christian (4-12) in the standings.

Shawnee State has a few impressive wins on the season, including taking two of the four games over No. 9 Lindsey Wilson last weekend. SSU is led in hitting by Marisa Brown's .38- average, five home runs and 26 RBI. Tatum Wise (9-9) leads the pitching staff with a 1.95 ERA in 20 appearances and 17 starts.

Next Up:
Campbellsville closes out its regular season with a four-game set at rival Lindsey Wilson College on April 27-28 in Columbia. All four games will air on the CU Sports Network.
