No. 17 Lady Tigers fall in Mid-South conference semifinal to unranked Cumberlands

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — University of the Cumberlands came from behind to upset No. 17 Campbellsville women's tennis in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinal on Saturday afternoon, 5-3. 
 
The Lady Tigers were ahead, 2-1, after doubles but the Patriots won four of the five singles matches to pull their second upset over CU this season. 
 
Cumberlands led 1-0 after Bailey Decker and Brooklyn Harris lost 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. But then it was a clean sweep at Nos. 1-2. Bolor Enkhbayar and Grace Rowe took down Hannah Wampler and Haley Mahan, 8-2 to knot the dual at one. At No. 1 doubles, Kaede Amano and Majella Nobile teamed up to take down Jaclyn Jewell and Tomomi Nagao, 8-5. 
 
Now leading 2-1 heading to singles, Cumberlands won three straight matches to lead 4-2. Decker and Harris lost at Nos. 5-6 singles, respectively, before Nobile was able to get CU a point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Luka Lyttle. 
 
Grace Rowe lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to Denee Lyttle and Enkhbayar lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 for the Patriots to seal the win. 
 
Cumberlands will now face top-seeded Lindsey Wilson tomorrow in the MSC final.
 
Campbellsville will now await to see if it gets an at-large bid to the NAIA Championship scheduled for May 15-19 in Mobile, Ala. The Lady Tigers will also have an opportunity to compete in the NCCAA Championship in Mobile on May 8-11.
