No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan rallies late to prevent upset bid from No. 18 Lady Tiger tennis

CAMPBELLSVILLE. Ky. — Lady Tiger tennis dropped its first match of the day to No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan, 5-4, at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex. 
 
The 18th-ranked Lady Tigers were seeking their first victory over a Top 10 opponent and were so close but could not muster enough singles wins. 
 
CU led after doubles play with a 2-1 lead. Kaede Amano and Grace Rowe teamed up for an 8-1 victory, while Bailey Decker and Brooklyn Harris pulled out an 8-4 win at the third-seeded doubles position. 
 
But Indiana Wesleyan was able to grab a point by defeating Bolor Enkbayar and Majella Nobile at No. 1 doubles. 
 
In singles, the Wildcats tied the dual at 2-all as Decker lost 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 position. Amano gave CU the lead right back, 3-2, in the dual by winning easily at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. 
 
CU ended up leading 4-2 after Nobile won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 but Indiana Wesleyan stepped up its game to win the final three matches at Nos. 5, 2 and 4 singles. 
 
Rowe, after winning a tough match to seal a win over Georgetown earlier in the week, lost another nip-and-tuck bout at No. 4 singles to seal the victory for Indiana Wesleyam 6-7, 6-1, 6-0.
