Lady Tiger golf is sixth after opening round of Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational

BURKESVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger golf sits in sixth place after the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational after firing a first-round 385 at Dale Hollow State Park. 
 
Campbellsville trails Georgetown College ( 359) for fifth place by 26 strokes and University of Pikeville (347) for fourth by 38. 
 
Cumberland University and University of the Cumberlands leads the team tournament with matching 321s, while Lindsey Wilson is third after shooting a 335-team score. 
 
The Lady Tigers were led by junior Michaela Jarman's opening round 85. Jarman sits in a tie for 10thplace, while fellow junior Kylie Withrow shot an 88 and is tied for 18th
 
Freshman Kristen Miller fired an opening round 95 and is tied for 26th, while newcomer Kaitlyn Merritt is in 37thafter a 117. 
 
Former NAIA individual champion Kaitlyn Riley shot an opening round one-over 73 to lead the field. Lindsey Wilson's Tara Rodenhurst is strokes behind with a 75, while Boo Newsome of UPIKE and Abbey Burgdorf of Cumberland is tied for third with matching 77s. 
 
The second round of the MSC Spring Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday morning at Dale Hollow. The conference championship, which is the qualifying tournament for the NAIA Championship, uses the combined scores between the fall and spring invitationals for seeding. The MSC Championship is scheduled for April 23-25 at Bowling Green Country Club.
