MOBILE, Ala. – Campbellsville's men's tennis team is back in the NCCAA National Championship for the fourth-straight season after beating second-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University, 5-1, in the national semifinals on Thursday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Tigers (17-6) are set to face sixth-seeded Emmanuel College on Friday morning at 10 a.m. ET. The Lions took down Bluefield College in the semifinals on Thursday, 5-4.
Campbellsville got two wins in doubles action, where
Chrys Castro and
Adrian Sabrojo grabbed an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against Gavin White and Jacob Rankin. At No. 3 doubles,
Blayze O'Keefe and
Martin Munoz earned an 8-6 win over Joel Montgomery and Austin Christner.
The Wildcats (29-10) earned a point at No. 1 doubles with Eli Steiner and Grant Yager beating
Alejandro Reyes and
Pablo Alonso Munoz.
Both Reyes and Alonso Munoz got back on track to lead the Tigers in singles competition. Reyes won, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles over White, while Alonso Munoz beat Tyler Abbott, 6-3, 6-0. Campbellsville continued to roll in the singles portion of the match with Munoz securing the 5-1 victory after beating Andrew Block, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
In the three unfinished contests, Sabrojo and O'Keefe won their opening set, while Castro dropped the first set, but led the second set.
Campbellsville is seeking its first NCCAA national title since 2015, when the Tigers defeated Palm Beach Atlantic University, 5-3.
