WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The Tigers fell back a few spots on day two and finished fifth in the meet with 67 points, but picked up more All-Americans as they finished the NCCAA Championships.
Garland Webb picked up where he left off last night in the men's long jump this afternoon. He made an NAIA B standard and national runner up jump of 7.13m. Webb would go on to finish off his day in the men's 4x100m relay which would end up placing just outside an All-American third place finish. They ran a time of 42.81. Webb collected the most points of the meet with 22 individual points.
After winning the national title last year in the men's 110m hurdles, Tyler Lewis settled for the silver medal this year. Lewis fell to Roberts Wesleyans' Ashton Colaire who ran a 14.44 while Lewis ran a 14.81 improving upon his NAIA B standard from yesterday in the prelims. Ormoni Zanders would help the Tigers with three points after a sixth place finish with a time of 16.17 in the event.
After coming off a big time performance both Corbin Harris and Brayden Russell picked up more crucial points this afternoon. Harris started the track events off for Campbellsville in the men's 3,000m steeple chase. Harris placed fifth in the event running a time of 10:07.43. Harris finished his meet off with nine points for the team. Russell finished in fourth place in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.98m. He jumped the same height as second and third, but had more fouls than both of them.
Anthony Sams finished off scoring in the field events today in the men's shot put. He would end up with a throw of 14.48m.
Over on the distance side following Harris' lead Bret Crawford put together in a very tactical race in which he was less than three seconds off an All-American finish with a fifth place finish time of 4:10.34. Crawford and Harris were the only scorers on the distance side of things this meet, the first time all season that only two men have scored in distance events.
Garland Webb, Tyler Lewis, and Brayden Russell will now have two weeks to prepare for the NAIA Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
