MOBILE, Ala. – On the final day of pool play, Campbellsville women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 set back to third-seeded Dallas Baptist University at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Despite the loss, the second-seeded Lady Tigers (14-8) still advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament and takes on top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.
Campbellsville trailed 2-0 after defaulting No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, but the duo of
Kaede Amano and
Brooklyn Harris got the Lady Tigers on the board with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles over Bianca Tijerina and Ira Vogelmann. Campbellsville could not even up the match after Liz Slaughter and Claire Nguyen won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles against
Majella Nobile and
Bolor Enkhbayar.
The lone singles point the Lady Tigers earned was at No. 1, where Amano won a 6-1, 6-1 contest over Slaughter. Despite leading at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, the Patriots (17-9) clinched the match.
At No. 5 singles, Harris lost to Adriana Carpenter, 6-0, 6-1, and then
Bailey Decker suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Vogelmann to seal the 5-2 loss for Campbellsville.
The Lady Tigers are back in action on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET in the NCCAA National Championship Semifinals against Indiana Wesleyan.
