Freshman Madison Ferrie leads Lady Tigers in opening round of Bill Sergent Invitational

LONDON, Ky. — After a three-hour rain delay, Lady Tiger golf couldn't find its groove today in the opening round of the University of the Cumberlands' Bill Sergent Invitational.

Campbellsville shot a team score of 338 and is currently in fourth place. The Lady Tigers trail host Cumberlands by 37 strokes as the Patriots shot a 301 in the opening round to lead Indiana University East by 19 strokes (320).

Freshman Madison Ferrie led the Lady Tigers with a six-over 78 on Day 1. She started on the 11^thhole and bogeyed but rallied back with her only birdie of the day on the par-five 12^th-hole. Ferrie finished her first-nine holes at just one-over but faltered down the stretch. In her final eight holes, Ferrie played them at five-over to fall back to solo sixth.

Kylie Withrow is right behind her and is tied for seventh after a first-round 79. Withrow also had a solid first nine holes with three bogeys but birdied the par-four 17^thto go out in 38. But like Ferrie, the front-nine was a struggle as she played it at 5-over par.

Fellow senior Michaela Jarman struggled right out of the gates and couldn't get her round going. The Danville, Ky. native carded six bogeys, three doubles and a triple to be tied for 24^thafter an opening round 87.

Courtney Withrow was the last counting score in the Top 5 as she shot a 94 and is 42^nd.

Maddie Coffey was scheduled to compete but was forced to withdraw due to a sickness.

The second round will also feature a shotgun start at 10 a.m. ET at Crooked Creek GC in London. The Lady Tigers' four golfers will start on the 13^thand 14^thholes with Asbury University and Midway University.
