Cougars shutout Lady Tiger soccer to spoil doubleheader on Saturday with 1-0 win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky — Mount Vernon Nazarene's Morgan Gibson scored in the 40thminute and Lady Tiger soccer could not muster a score to fall 1-0 on Saturday night. 
 
The shutout is the second time Campbellsville (5-2) has been scoreless this season, while the Cougars improve to 5-1-2 overall. 
 
Campbellsville once again out-shot its opponent, 13-11, but the Lady Tigers couldn't find the frame in the first half with zero shots on goal. In the second period, CU started to find consistency, but Mount Vernon Nazarene's Anna Chrysler registered all five of her saves in the final 45 minutes of play. 
 
 Her counterpart, Campbellsville's Katelyn Young finished the night with four saves – two in each half. The long goal she allowed came in the 40thminute after the defense lost Gibson and a chip shot found the back of the net. 
 
The Lady Tigers will now host Taylor University next week, Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. ET.
