Lady Tigers open home portion of schedule tonight at 7 p.m. against Life University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After playing for almost a month this year, Lady Tiger volleyball finally enters the Powell Athletic Center tonight for their first home match vs. Life University. 
 
Campbellsville hosts the Life Running Eagles at 7 p.m. ET with the junior varsity game slated for 5 p.m.

Campbellsville enters the night with a 9-3 overall record and are sitting at 2-1 inside the Mid-South Conference. The Lady Tigers dropped their most recent match to No. 4 Lindsey Wilson College on Tuesday night in straight sets and are looking to bounce back on Thursday. 
 
Life University enters tonight with a 6-13 record and the Running Eagles are 1-1 inside MSC. The Running Eagles just defeated Cumberland University on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak. Life started the year with seven straight losses but then won five in a row before their most recent six-game skid. 
 

Series History:
  • Campbellsville and Life University are meeting for the fifth time in program history. 
  • The Lady Tigers own a 4-0 record with three of those wins coming in the Powell 
  • Athletic Center. 
  • CU has only dropped two sets to the Running Eagles. 
  • CU and Life's first meeting came in the 2016 season on Sept. 21. The Lady Tigers 
  • won 3-0. 
  • Last season, the season series was played in Campbellsville for both matches. CU 
  • won 3-0 and 3-1. 
Tiger Clawz:
  • The Lady Tigers have won seven of their last nine matches, including a pair of MSC wins over Pikeville (3-0) and Shawnee State (3-1). 
  • The two losses in this stretch have come to Asbury University on Sept. 7 (3-1) and Lindsey Wilson on Sept. 18 (3-0). 
  • Freshman Paige Merrick has been as consistent as you could ask from a rookie setter. Merrick has been named MSC Setter of the Week twice and ranks No. 22 in the country with 10.1 assists per set. In addition, Merrick's 60 assists last week vs. Shawnee State are a new career-high and are the most by any setter in the MSC this year. 
  • Merrick sat out of Tuesday night's match due to a violation of team rules. She is expected to be back in the lineup tonight. 
  • Offensively, Maria Coelho and Kaite Johnson - a pair of seniors - lead CU's attack. Coelho leads CU with 153 kills, while Johnson has 146. 
  • Coelho ranks eighth on the all-time career list for kills with 1,175. 
  • Jaimie Thompson ranks 26th in the NAIA with 5.3 digs per game, while the Lady 
  • Tigers rank 32nd with 17.6 digs per game. 
  • CU also ranks 28th in the country by averaging 2.0 service aces for game.
