CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A second half goal was the difference between Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson Wednesday night at Citizen's Bank Field.
Alicia Thoresen for the Blue Raiders scored the goal in the 59th minute after Lady Tiger goalkeeper
Katelyn Young left her net to clear the ball. Young attempted to stop a potential LWC breakaway and while that attempt was successful, the clear fell to the foot of Thoresen who lobbed the ball toward the empty net from about 35 yards and it bounced in for the goal.
The match was even throughout with both teams having the same amount of shots, 11-11 with each team shooting four times in the first half and seven times in the second half. Campbellsville did earn more of the corner kick opportunities but could not capitalize on any of their five chances.
With about 90 seconds left in the match a CU cross was sent into the box and a fortunate bounce found an open
Hope Sanders in front of the goal but the ball took another bad bounce away from her foot that ended one of the best opportunities for the Lady Tigers in the game.
Campbellsville women's soccer will play next this Saturday as they travel to Ohio Christian University. They will return home next Tuesday to host Shawnee State University in another Mid-South Conference matchup.
