CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville women's volleyball will take a break from their conference schedule and head to Bourbonnais, Ill. for the Holiday Inn Express Invite hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
The Lady Tigers will compete in four matches over two days in the eight-team invite. On Friday, CU will face the hosts in Olivet Nazarene at 4:00 p.m. ET in each team's first match then the Lady Tigers will play at 8:00 p.m. against Grace College. Saturday will see Campbellsville play back-to-back matches at 2:00 p.m. against Trinity Christian College then at 4:00 p.m. against Taylor University.
CU is planted firmly in third place in the Mid-South Conference after their first six matches in MSC play with their only losses coming against the top two teams in the conference in No. 4 Lindsey Wilson and No. 18 Georgetown College. In their four wins in conference play, the Lady Tigers only dropped three total sets, sweeping the University of Pikeville and University of the Cumberlands.
Olivet Nazarene is 7-9 on the season, winning three of their last four matches before the start of the tournament. Micki Quackenbush for the Tigers is the attacker that seems to be set to the most with 558 total attacks in 16 matches for 167 kills and a .142 hitting percentage.
Grace College will have the most wins of any CU opponent in the tournament at 13-5 and are coming off of winning five of their last six matches before the start of this tournament. Kelsee Zuidema has the most attacks by far for the Lancers with 1099, earning 335 kills for a .135 hitting percentage.
Trinity Christian is receiving votes in the NAIA and holds a 9-4 record, suffering a loss in their last match against Clarke University but winning their previous four matches before that. Kacie Stoll has 186 kills for the Trolls in 534 attempts for a .221 hitting percentage.
Taylor University also has a loss in their most recent match but won their previous two matches before that. Addy Bailey and Amanda Adams both have attack totals in the mid 500s to lead the way for the Trojans but Adams holds the higher hitting percentage at .152 with 171 kills in her 551 attempts.
The Lady Tigers will return to Mid-South Conference play briefly after the Holiday Inn Express Invite to host Cumberland University on Oct. 2 and the University of Pikeville on Oct. 9. Then Campbellsville will host the Green River Classic on Oct. 13 as they welcome Fisk University and Xavier University of Louisiana for three-team round robin play.
