PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tiger volleyball team opens up their 2018 conference schedule on Tuesday evening when they travel to Pikeville, Ky. to face the Bears. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
LADY TIGERS DOMINATE SIENA HEIGHTS INVITATIONAL
- The Lady Tigers are off to a 7-1 start this season and are coming off a 4-0 record this past weekend at the Siena Heights Invitational.
- Paige Merrick and Kaite Johnson were both named to the Siena Heights Invitational All-Tournament team. Merrick finished with 163 assists and 37 digs in the tournament while Johnson finished with 48 kills and 38 digs.
- Merrick was also named Co-MVP along with Sydney Ritz from Spring Arbor.
TIGER CLAWZ
- Campbellsville has a .157 attacking percentage this season and averages 12.5 kills per set. The opposition has a .144 attacking percentage and 10.9 kills per set.
- The Lady Tigers have recorded 77 aces this season to the oppositions 54.
- Maria Coelho (5th) and Johnson (6th) are both in the top 10 in the MSC in kills per set this season. Coelho averages 3.12 and Johnson averages 3.09.
- Merrick ranks third in the MSC in assists per set this season with 9.56. She is also tied for fourth in the conference with 16 total service aces.
- The Lady Tigers have four individuals with double figure aces this season. Merrick leads with 16 followed by Johnson with 14 and then Savannah Moss and Julia Fonseca have 10 each.
- Jaimie Thompson leads the team with 174 digs and is second in the
conference with 5.3 per set.
- Fonseca and Yelysaveta Sharkova (Liza) rank eighth and ninth in the Mid-South Conference in blocks per set. Fonseca averages 0.8 per set and Sharkova averages 0.7 per set.
MERRICK NAMED SETTER OF THE WEEK
- Merrick has been honored as the Mid-South Conference Setter of the Week for her performances at the Siena Heights Invitational.
- In four matches she averaged 9.59 assists per set and totaled 37 digs, 11 kills and 10 aces.
- In the vs. Rochester she posted career high in assists with 51 and seven kills. She also had four aces in the two Saturday matches vs. Robert Morris and Huntington.
- She posted double-doubles in two of the four matches and five overall.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
- After starting the season 3-0 UPIKE has fallen on tough times, winning just one match in its last seven.
- The Bears won their first match against Midway at the Milligan Mountain Madness and then fell 3-0 in thee straight matches vs. Bryan College, Union College and the University of Saint Francis.
- UPIKE averages 9.2 kills per set as a team and has a .139 attacking percentage.
- Noelani Simpson averages 3.63 kills per set this season to lead UPIKE.
SERIES HISTORY
- Since the 2006 season the Lady Tigers have gone 21-0 in the series.
