Warman falls in playoff; Tigers finish in second at Lindsey Wilson Invitational

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Justin Warman led Campbellsville University men's golf to a second-place finish in their first tournament of the year at the Lindsey Wilson Invitational.

The Tigers finished three strokes behind the host Blue Raiders, but Justin Warman had a career tournament on top of that. The junior shot 66-67 in the two rounds and forced a playoff with Lindsey Wilson's Callum Blinkhorn. Warman birdied the playoff hole but Blinkhorn rolled in an eagle for the win.

Warman led the Tigers overall with a total score of 133, while freshman Landon Connor fired career-lows 70-66 to finish in fourth-place. Connor's 66 matched Warman and Blinkhorn for the tournament low at The Pines.

In addition, Austin Mahoney fell off the pace by two strokes compared to his first round. Mahoney fired an even-par 71 today and finished in solo ninth.

Lastly, Jonathan Brewington improved eight strokes from his first round. He shot 77-69 and climbed the leaderboard to a tie for 17^th. Lucas Gover fell off the pace by five strokes with rounds of 73-78 to finish tied for 35^th.

The Tigers also had six individuals in the field this week. Freshman Connor Wilson led the way with matching 73s and finished tied for 17^th. Seth Bohl was right behind with 75-72 and is tied for 20^th.

Halen Stamper fired 72-76, Owen Workman shot 71-79, Mark Murphy shot 79-75 and Clay Barnett finished with matching 77s.

Campbellsville out-lasted Midway University by 15 strokes, while Marian University placed fourth.

The Tigers get back in action at the Georgetown College Invitational at Cherry Blossom on Sept. 17-18.
