Tigers finish Lindsey Wilson in final six minutes to sweep #BattleofHighway55 Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — No. 7 Campbellsville hit 51 percent from the floor and outscored rival Lindsey Wilson in the paint, 38-22, to down the Blue Raiders on Saturday, 82-64.

Campbellsville (16-2, 2-1 MSC) hit a pair of 3s early by Jacob King and Hagen Tyler to put CU ahead, 6-0, but Lindsey Wilson battled back to take a 13-10 lead. Then it was Andrew Smith picked up one of his 11 rebounds to find Tyler for another triple by Tyler with 11:27 left to tie it at 13-all and Campbellsville never trailed the rest of the day.

Tyler finished with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting and grabbed four rebounds. He now has 1,714 career points and sits behind CU Hall of Famer James Boulware (1,723) by nine points for fifth place on the all-time scoring list.

With that last 3 above, Tyler ended up scoring seven straight points to put the Tigers ahead, 17-13, with 9:20. The Blue Raiders, who were led in scoring by Shakaris Laney's 20 points, went frigid cold from the floor. Lindsey Wilson didn't score for almost five minutes, but Campbellsville couldn't muster enough offense and take advantage.

In the final 61 seconds, it was Ronald Taylor coming off the bench to spark CU to a 36-28 lead. Taylor completed an old fashioned 3-point play with 1:01 left and then teammate Juan Duran found Taylor with an extra pass as he banged a new-school 3 from the corner just before the halftime buzzer.

The second half was all Campbellsville as well. Just minutes into the frame, Jacob King and Deion Evans hooked up to break the crowd to its feet. Stephaun Adams picked up a steal, passed ahead into the front court to King and he threw the lob to Evans to shake the Powell Athletic Center.

Campbellsville ended up doubling up the Blue Raiders in the first seven minutes. Adams buried a triple for three of his 12 points to put CU ahead, 58-39.

Like the women's game, one would expect a late rally by the opponent and Lindsey Wilson did that. The Blue Raiders went on a 16-7 run to cut the lead to 10 points, 65-55, with 6:30 left. But after a Brent Vernon timeout, Campbellsville answered the call from their head coach and flipped that run into one itself, 17-9, in the final few minutes.

King hit a 3 with 4:48 left and Duran followed with his only triple with 1:50 left to put the nail in the coffin.

Campbellsville held Lindsey Wilson to hitting only two of its final 10 shots while the Tigers finished hitting 5-of-6. Overall, it was the bench that steppe up today. Doran finished with 14 points, while Taylor had eight to lead the reserves.

The Tigers will now head south to Georgia next week. Campbellsville will play Life University on Thursday night at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Ga. Tip time is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
