Tigers head to Barbourville for last non-conference match of 2019

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday Tiger soccer will be traveling to Barbourville, for their last match outside of conference play as they face Union College for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • In the Tigers last matchup, they were able to take down Shawnee State, 3-1.
  • Connor Pugh led the way for Campbellsville as he was able to score goals in the 2nd and 87th minutes of play.
  • Azad Illiozer was also able to capitalize on a 3rd minute goal, quickly putting CU up 3-0.
  • The Tigers were able to get the win, but a goal with two seconds remaining eliminated Campbellsville's shutout attempt.
 
SCOUTING UNION
  • Entering play on Saturday, the Bulldogs hold a record of 7-5-1.
  • Both Campbellsville and Union have played Bluefield and Bethel. The Tigers won those matches 6-0 and 1-0, while Union lost to Bethel 2-0, while defeating Bluefield 3-1.
  • Edson Bangali has been the top performer for the Bulldogs, leading the team in goals (5), assists (7), shots (34), and shots on goal (18).
 
HISTORY VS UNION
  • In previous meetings with the Bulldogs, the Tigers hold a record of 0-1-1 since 2005.
  • They last matched up last season as Union visited Finley Stadium and was able to pull out a 3-2 win.
  • In this match, the Tigers trailed early as Union was able score a goal 34 seconds into play. 
  • Connor Grant then put together the equalizer in the 24th minute of the match.
  • However, two second half goals were too much for CU to handle, falling 3-2.

After Saturday's evening tilt with Union, the Tigers will return to MSC action, traveling to Williamsburg, Ky. on October 16th, to play the University of the Cumberlands at 7:30 p.m. ET.
