Three Tigers finish in Top 20 at TPC Deere Run, CU places seventh as a team

SILVIS, Ill. — Campbellsville men's golf took a step back in the second round of the NAIA Midwest Invitational on Tuesday and fell from fourth to seventh in the standings.

The Tigers shot 301-305 in the two-day tournament and finished in seventh place behind wire-to-wire leaders Bellevue University. Bellevue shot 284-298 to claim the title at TPC Deere Run.

Leading the way for the Tigers was senior Justin Warman firing 71-76 to finish in a tie for eighth place. After day one, Warman's 71 put him tied for fourth after the even par round.

Landon Conner and Austin Mahoney also finished in the Top 20 as well. Conner fired 74-75 to finish in a tie for 13th while Mahoney had scores of 76-74 to finish in solo 18th

Layton Hord and Seth Bohl struggled in their two rounds with scores in the 80s. Hord shot 81-80 and Bohl finished with an 80-82 overall.

After the second round was completed, there was a three-way tie atop the leaderboard but Lindsey Wilson's Callum Blinkhorn won his second consecutive tournament after he out-paced Indiana Wesleyan's Cameron Luczka and Bellevue's Alex Zillig in the one-hole playoff.

Blinkhorn shot 69-73 and birdied the playoff hole to claim medalist honors.

The Tigers will now have a few days to prepare for the NCCAA National Championship in Palm Coast, Florida. CU travels to the Sunshine State later this week for a few practice rounds before play gets started on Monday, Oct. 21 through Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Hammock Beach Resort.
