Women’s volleyball falls in sweep to Georgetown College on Dig Pink Night

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers were looking to use the energy of a return home and their great supporting crowd to return to the win column but Georgetown College was able to pick up a sweep victory Thursday night at Gosser Gymnasium.

GC took the sets by scores of 25-19, 27-25, and 25-19 to move to 6-2 in conference play as Campbellsville dropped to 2-6 in the Mid-South Conference.

Georgetown used a dominant defensive game with digs and blocks to defeat Campbellsville despite CU having three more kills than Georgetown. GC had nine blocks and 54 digs compared to two and 49 for Campbellsville in the entire match with CU having 39 kills to 36 for Georgetown.

GC's McKala Bozman led all attackers with 11 kills in the match with Ashton Meckle adding eight from the outside. Both Sonia Flendrich and Sutton Mason led the Lady Tigers with seven kills each with Kymbra Kirby and Paige Merrick finishing with six kills.

Merrick had a solid all-around game at setter with 28 assists and seven digs while also finishing with a .455 hitting percentage. Jaimie Thompson also had a solid night at libero with 19 digs while adding four assists.

Next up for CU will be another home match in the conference, this time against Shawnee State, who already has a win over Campbellsville earlier in the year.
