CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers look to open their postseason run, as they begin the Mid-South Conference Tournament Thursday morning.
The No. 8-seed CU will play the No. 9-seed Pikeville at 11 a.m. ET at Bowling Green Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. in the opening round of the tournament.
PATH TO A CHAMPIONSHIP
- As the Lady Tigers finished 4-12 in MSC play, CU finished in a tie for seventh in the regular season standings but lost the tiebreaker as they dropped their matches to Shawnee State during the regular season.
- This gave CU the eighth seed, forcing them to meet Pikeville in the opening round.
- With a win, the Lady Tigers will move on meet the No. 1-seed, Lindsey Wilson later Thursday evening a 6:30 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING PIKEVILLE
- On the season the Bears hold an overall record of 9-21, but were winless in MSC play, dropping all 16 of their matches.
- Noelani Simpson, the outside hitter from Fontana, California, leads Pikeville is both kills and digs.
- Simpson averages 4.73 kills per set, ranking her second in the NAIA.
HISTORY VS THE BEARS
- Since 2005, the Lady Tigers are undefeated against Pikeville, boasting a record of 27-0.
- In the series, CU has only dropped three sets, not losing a set since 2014.
- Campbellsville swept Pikeville twice this season, with their last matchup coming on Oct. 12.
- In this meeting, CU was able to record a hitting percentage of .237 behind nine kills from Kymbra Kirby.
MSC HISTORY
- Lindsey Wilson has won each of the last four MSC Tournaments.
- Last season the Lady Tigers advanced to the conference title game after defeating Shawnee State (3-2) and Georgetown College (3-1), before falling to the Blue Raiders in the championship match.
With a win, CU will advance to play Lindsey Wilson at 6:30 p.m. ET, later Thursday evening.
