GLASGOW, Ky. — On Wednesday morning, Barren County's Karleigh Delk signed a letter of intent in the school library to continue her athletic career at Campbellsville University where she will play golf.

Delk made the regional girls' golf tournament earlier this fall, and she scored 4.9 points per game for a Trojanette basketball team that made the state tournament last season.

Planning to pursue a nursing career, Delk has competed heavily for the last few years on the Kentucky Junior PGA Tour and has six Top 5 finishes under her belt.

"I'm literally shaking right now, and I'm so excited," Delk said. "I can't wait to not only further my athletic career here, but to also my relationship with God. I want to thank BCHS, the staff, and all my coaches for supporting for these four years of my high school career. Thank you all for believing in me."

Delk said that Campbellsville was an ideal place for her as she cited the beautiful camps and great teacher-to-student ratio the university possesses. She will be pursuing a major in nursing during her playing days.

"I watched Karleigh a little bit and saw her scores and I'm excited to have her on the team," Campbellsville coach Lindsey Burd said. "I'm new to this a little bit with golf. We are young, and I'm young and we are learning. I'm excited to have her as she will be close to home so her family can see her. I'm ready for her to sign these papers and get started then she is all mine."

Delk will be joining fellow teammate Elizabeth Bertram on the basketball team as Bertram signed with Campbellsville on Oct. 3.

Barren County Girls' Golf Coach Duane Withrow also spoke at the signing. He said that Delk was one of several golfers from the program who have signed to play at the next level. That list includes Trojanette senior Marlie Shirley who signed with Lindsey Wilson golf on Oct. 16

"I am excited for Karleigh," Withrow said. "It's a totally different atmosphere at the college level, and I think she will greatly enjoy it there."
