HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Competing in the NAIA postseason for the first time since 2015, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team suffered a similar fate to that Opening Round game as Southern Oregon earned a 2-0 win on Friday afternoon.
After about 70 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Raiders scored a goal at the 69:10 mark in the game as Sarah Mauk finished off a cross from Madison Childers with a header to take a 1-0 lead with 20 minutes left in the contest.
After a bit of a push from the Lady Tigers later in the half, SOU doubled their lead in the 86
th minute as Baylee Touey scored an unassisted goal to ice the game at the eventual 2-0 final score.
Statistically, the game was a balanced game between the two sides as the shots went 10-9 in favor of Southern Oregon with CU putting six on net compared to seven for the Raiders. Defender
Naia Landaluce led the Lady Tigers in both shots and shots on goal as she put a pair of balls on net in the game.
Campbellsville had a slight advantage in corner kicks with the Lady Tigers earning five corners with three corner kicks coming in the first half with SOU not earning any corners.

Katelyn Young put up a strong effort to keep the Lady Tigers in the contest, making five saves through the 90 minutes. The Raiders used a tandem of keepers to earn the clean sheet as both Kailey Lemon and Jessie Selby played half of the game with Selby making three saves in the game.
The Lady Tigers were able to get a couple of balls by the Southern Oregon keeper in the first half but defenders were positioned well to be able to clear the ball away from the goal to be credited for three team saves.
After the Opening Round defeat, Campbellsville finishes with a 12-6 record and their first postseason appearance in the NAIA in five seasons.
