Lady Tigers run away with 83-68 home opening win against West Virginia Tech

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University earned their ninth-straight win to start the 2019-20 season in an 83-68 effort Tuesday evening against West Virginia Tech.

Tuesday's win came in the Lady Tigers' home opener of the season that marks the latest home opener of a CU women's basketball season since 2009 when they opened their home slate on Nov. 27, 2009.

CU was led by a 20-point effort from senior forward Madison Faulkner as she continues to be the only member of the Lady Tigers to score in double figures in every game so far this season. Her 20 points came on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 8-of-10 shooting from the free throw line as she also added five rebounds and three steals on the night.

Guards Lexy Lake and Savannah Gregory also added 12 points as the only other CU players in double figures with Lake pouring in four three-point shots on eight attempts. Gregory was the team's leading rebounder with nine on the night while also adding two assists and two steals.

Caitlin Hall finished the night with another one of her typical games finishing with eight points and a game-high six assists in 24 minutes. Courtney Pritchett continued her stat stuffing ways with five points, five rebounds, four assists, and a blocked shot.

The bench combined to score 26 points led by six from Madison Sheppard along with five apiece from Faith Lake and Shyla Calbert, a pair of four-point games from Sammy Rogers and Lashaya Carman, then two points and three rebounds from Ashlee McGeorge.

West Virginia Tech hit the first basket of the game then a Hall three pointer gave the Lady Tigers a 3-2 lead as they never looked back as that was the only lead change of the game. The Golden Bears were led by an 18-point, 15-rebound double-double from forward Laura Requena as she finished with nine offensive rebounds.
