Lady Tigers to host senior night as the Saints come to the Gosser Gymnasium

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Wednesday evening, Lady Tiger volleyball will honor their seniors as they host Thomas More for their last home game of 2019.
 
This match will be broadcasted live on the CU Sports Network starting at 4:45 as Tony Fonzo will be on the call for both junior varsity and varsity contests. Fans can watch online at CampbellsvilleTigers.com/watch or stream the game on the Roku and Apple TV apps on their televisions.
 
SENIOR DAY
  • As this match serves as the last at Gosser Gymnasium for the 2019 campaign, the Lady Tigers would like to honor their three seniors prior to the match, Lyza Sharkova, Savannah Moss, and Jaimie Thompson.
  • Sharkova, is in her second season at Campbellsville. Last season she was selected to Second Team All-MSC as she recorded 197 kills last season. Thus far in 2019, she has tallied 92 kills and been a part of 26 blocks.
  • Moss is a four-year senior out of Louisville, Ky. Since her freshman year, she has had consistent time in the Lady Tiger lineup as she ranks sixth all time in career games played. Last season, Moss was also named Academic All-MSC and an NCCAA Scholar Athlete. In her career she has played 564 sets and has recorded 1,248 digs.
  • Jaimie Thompson, the senior from Owensboro, Ky. has spent her time at CU as a defensive specialist and libero. In her career, Thompson has been aple to record 1,583 digs, while tallying 794 digs last season. She currently sits seventh all-time in career digs and her total in 2018 ranks her 4thever for the Lady Tigers in a season. She has also been named Second-Team All-MSC, Academic All-MSC, and an NCCAA Scholar Athlete.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Campbellsville's last match was last Tuesday as they hosted the Lindsey Wilson College.
  • The 10thranked Blue Raiders were able to escape with a 3-0 sweep of CU after 25-20. 25-12, and 25-15 set wins.
  • Defensively, the Lady Tigers put up a strong effort as Thompson led all players with 20 digs in the match.
  • Sonia Flendrich finished the match with eight kills to lead CU for the fourth straight match, but it was not enough to overcome the Blue Raider attack.
 
SAINTS COME MARCHING IN
  • The Saints enter Wednesday's match in the receiving votes category of the poll as they boast a 21-6 overall record, including a 12-2 record inside conference play.
  • Thomas More enters Wednesday riding a nine-game win streak as they have not lost since Oct. 11.
  • Thomas More is on the offensive end by Emily Mohs who has recorded 350 total kills on the year.
  • Defensively, Jenna Mummert holds down the front line with 85 blocks.
  • As a team the Saints rank 19thin the NAIA with a 0.229 hitting percentage and 21stwith 13.23 kills per set.
 
HISTORY WITH THE SAINTS
  • Since 2005, the Lady Tigers have only met the Saints twice, one of which came earlier this season.
  • CU holds a 1-1 record against Thomas More after falling in four sets on Oct. 1st
  • Flendrich and Sophie Ball led the Lady Tiger offense with nine kills apiece. 
  • TMU was led by Mohs and Mummert who recorded 14 and 13 kills themselves.
 
AROUND THE MSC
  • The Lady Tigers currently rank seventh in the Mid-South Conference standings as they hold a 4-10 record in conference play.
  • Thomas More on the other hand has developed a 12-2 conference record for second in the standings, only behind LWC who has played to a 13-2 performance.
  • With two matches left to play, the Lady Tigers can fall anywhere between the sixth and the eighth seed that Mid-South Conference tournament.
 
Following Wednesday's match, CU will travel to Georgetown on November 8thto faceoff with the Tigers at 7 p.m. to close the season.
