Lady Tigers head back to non-conference play with Monday meeting in Nashville against Fisk

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After one of the toughest stretches in the NAIA this season, the Campbellsville University women's basketball team came away from three-straight top-15 matchups undefeated as they head into a home and home set against Fisk University starting this Monday in Nashville, Tenn. for a CU road game.

Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT locally and 7 p.m. ET back in Campbellsville as the game will be broadcast live on the air of 88.7 The Tiger and the CU Sports Network online at campbellsvilletigers.com/watch. The voice of Lady Tiger basketball, Matt Payton will be live courtside in Nashville to bring the play-by-play of the action at the Henderson A. Johnson Arena.

The Lady Tigers earned those three-straight top-15 wins against No. 14 Mid-America Nazarene, No. 8 Westmont, and most recently against No. 15 Lindsey Wilson College on the road to start off Mid-South Conference play 1-0.

Campbellsville earned an 86-65 win in Columbia, Ky. over the Blue Raiders behind 17 points from both Lexy Lake and Savannah Gregory as the Lady Tigers used a 29-10 second quarter advantage to run away with their 21-point win.

SERIES FACTS
  • The Lady Tigers and Bulldogs have only met four times and all four meeting came as home and home meetings, much like the pair of meetings this season.
  • Campbellsville has won all four of the matchups by large, double digit margins of victory in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with three of the four meetings coming in the month of January.
  • In the 2015-16 meetings, Emily Fox was the only player to score in double figures in each game with 17 points in the Jan. 7, 2016 meeting that followed a 16-point effort on the Dec. 11, 2015 game as CU earned 78-42 and 77-54 wins respectively.
  • The largest margin of victory came in the Jan. 29, 2015 matchup as the Lady Tigers earned an 87-38 victory in Nashville behind 19 points from Lindey Young and 15, 12, and 12 off the bench from Nathalie Felipe, Lauren Turner, and Fox.
  • The first ever meeting came earlier in that month of January when Campbellsville dropped a series-high point total of 96 on Jan. 12 against the Bulldogs as Chelsea Craig and Macie Spence led the way with 13 points as Lexxus Graham added 10.

#WEARENUMBERONE
  • For the first time since 2015-16, CU women's basketball is the top team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll after receiving 219 voting points and eight of the nine first place votes this past Wednesday.
  • In 2015-16, the Lady Tigers were the preseason No. 1 team and also earned the No. 1 ranking twice in January after initially dropping down the rankings during the early part of the season.
  • Campbellsville's 11-0 start is the best start to a season for the Lady Tigers since 2014-15 when they started 10-0 then suffered their first loss of the season to Lindsey Wilson in a game played on the first week of December.
  • That 2014-15 season led to the Lady Tigers reaching the National Championship game and finishing with a 33-4 record, which led to the following season's preseason No. 1 ranking in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.

SCOUTING FISK

  • Senior guard Caitlin Hall currently has 496 career assists, good for sixth place and just four away from becoming the sixth player to reach 500 assists in program history.

  • Campbellsville joins Wayland Baptist and Union University (Tenn.) as the only other programs to reach the feat as Union is no longer part of the NAIA after moving to the NCAA Division II level.

UP NEXT FOR CU
  • Campbellsville will finish the home-and-home series with Fisk University on Saturday as CU will host Fisk at the Powell Athletic Center on Dec. 14.
