Tiger cheerleading seeks sixth Mid-South Conference title on Sunday afternoon in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The 2019 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Competition is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Bowling Green High School.

Competition begins at 2:30 p.m. ET as the Lady Tigers are seeking to win their sixth Mid-South Conference title and first since 2015 – which is the most in MSC history as Cumberland University has won four.

The event includes a team competition along with three different stunt group divisions. The team competition boasts game day routines and a two minute and 15-second segment of stunts, tumbling and jumps choreographed to music. The stunt competition consists of one-minute routines in each discipline: all-girl (four females), co-ed (one male and one female) and mixed (one male and three females).

National Cheerleaders Association rules and scoring will be used for both events.

The team championships and individual awards will be presented after the final routines and judge deliberation.

University of the Cumberlands is the reigning champions, as there have been four different title winners in each of the last four seasons – Campbellsville (2015), Pikeville (2016), Lindsey Wilson (2017) and Cumberlands (2018).

The competition has been moved to Bowling Green, Ky. for the first time in history after Frankfort and Pikeville played hosts for multiple seasons.

Last year, Mackenzie Timmons and Jessie Howard both earned First-Team Mid-South Conference honors, while Randal Parmley and Taylor Blevins earns Second-Team mentions. CU only returns Blevins from last year's squad.

Campbellsville is being led by first-year head coach Amanda Gabehart – a 2007 alum that helped the Tigers win the first title in program history during her senior campaign.
