Lady Tigers say farewell to senior class with Thursday night matchup vs. No. 12 Shawnee State

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Mid-South Conference regular season championship has already been secured but Thursday nights basketball game between No. 3 Campbellsville and No. 12 Shawnee State means a little more.

The rivalry between the two programs is unmatched the last five seasons and Campbellsville is looking to seal the season series for just the third time in Ginger High Colvin's tenure as head coach.

The Lady Tigers and Bears tipoff at 6 p.m. ET and coverage starts on the CU Sports Network at 5:45.

Thursday night also dubs as Senior Night for the four Lady Tiger seniors that are playing their final game in the Powell Athletic Center. Also, CU is looking to go perfect in MSC play - which would be just the second time the Lady Tigers would do that in history.

Series Facts:
  • Campbellsville and SSU are meeting for the 31sttime in history, with the Bears leading 17-13.
  • CU won the first meeting on Dec. 1, 1990, 69-54, and that started a four-game win streak for CU un- der Hall of Fame Coach Donna Wise.
  • Coach Ginger High Colvin has an 10-14 record against Shawnee State
  • Campbellsville has only won three games in Portsmouth -- back-to-back wins in 2013-14, 2014-15 and the meeting earlier this season.
  • The Lady Tigers and Bears are meeting for the 16th straight game with CU being ranked in the Top 11. On Feb. 26, 2015, CU dominated the Bears 77-45 to win its 19th regular season title (KIAC & MSC). Three years ago, Shawnee State knocked off CU in OT, 74-67, to win its first MSC tournament title. The Bears did so again in 2015-16, winning 75-62 in the title game to win back-to-back MSC Tournaments. And won their third straight MSC Tournament last year with a 71-65 win over LWC.
MSC CHAMPS!
  • The Lady Tigers won 88-62 over Georgetown College to claim their 12 Mid-South Conference regular season title and 20th overall in the program history dating back to the KIAC days under Hall of Fame head coach Donna Wise.
  • The Lady Tigers shot exactly 50 percent from
  • the field, led by Jordan Doram's 20 points off the bench on 9-of-11 shooting from the field. GC had no answer for Doram in the post as the senior went to work against her hometown team. Behind Doram's 20, CU scored 50 points in the paint compared to just 26 from Georgetown.
  • Three other CU players scored in double figures as Gregory scored 13, Lexy Lake added 12 off the bench and Madison Faulkner dropped 10. Gregory was all over the floor on defense again with five steals, Faulkner grabbed six rebounds and all of Lake's points came on four three- pointers, three of which came in the third quarter.
  • The starting trio of Caitlin Hall, Madison Stewart and Madison Kaiser hit the jackpot, each scoring seven points in the game. Hall was, as usual, the team leader in assists in the game with nine and also added four steals on the night. Stewart was the team leader for Campbellsville with eight rebounds as she also added two takeaways.
MSC Championship History:
  • In Ginger Colvin's 11 previous seasons leading CU, the Lady Tigers have won the MSC regular season title five times (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2013-14, 2014-15).
  • CU has also never finished lower than fourth in the regular season standings.
  • The Lady Tigers are looking to go perfect inside MSC play for the first time since 2009-10 when the Lady Tigers were 14-0.
Farewell to Senior Class:
  • The Lady Tigers are saying so long to four seniors - Alexus Calhoun, Jordan Doram, Madison Stewart and Madison Kaiser.
  • This senior class will be recognized at halftime of the men's game on Thursday night.
  • The senior class has accumulated a 110-23 record in the last three-plus seasons, good for a .827 winning percentage.
  • They've reached the NAIA Fab Four once, NAIA quarterfinals once and the Second-Round last season. The Fab Four run included a win over then-undefeated and No. 1 Freed-Hardeman to reach the semifinal rounds.
  • Doram has scored 1,160 points in her career and grabbed 439 rebounds, while Madison Stewart has tallied 1,028 points and 419 boards.
  • Kaiser is having a spectacular season year, averaging double figures for the first time with 10.2 points per game.
  • Calhoun, a transfer last season, has brought much needed depth in the post the past two years and played in 54 games overall.
Up next for CU:
  • CU travels to Pikeville on Saturday, Feb. 23 to close regular season play.
  • The MSC Tournament is scheduled for next weekend in Pikeville once again. The women's tournament begins on Friday, March 1 and the championship day is Monday, March 4.
