Lady Tigers open MSC Tournament on Friday morning with University of the Cumberlands

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The 2019 Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Tournament gets underway on Friday and Campbellsville University earned the No. 1-seed. 
 
The Lady Tigers face eight-seeded University of the Cumberlands at 10 a.m. ET at the Eastern Ky. Expo Center. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network starting at 9:45 a.m., while video is being provided via the Mid-South Conference Sports Network. 
 
The Lady Tigers won their 14th MSC regular season championship with a 14-0 record – just the second conference schedule in coach Ginger High Colvin's tenure. 
 

MSC Tournament History:
  • Campbellsville has won five MSC Tournament titles and four KIAC Championships. 
  • The MSC titles are – 1997, 1998, 2004, 2011 and 2014. The KIAC titles – 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989. 
  • The last CU championship came in the 2014 season against Georgetown, Ky. in Lebanon, Tenn. 
  • In the MSC Tournament, the Lady Tigers have a 31-18 record in program history.
  • In the first-round games, the Lady Tigers are 12-3. CU had won eight-consecutive first round contests before falling to Cumberlands in the 2016-17 tourney.  
  • CU has gone 14-5 in the semifinals, reaching the semifinal game in four of the last five seasons. 
  • Campbellsville has a losing record, 5-10, in the tournament championship games. 
  • Georgetown is CU's most common opponent, playing nine separate times. 
  • CU has never played University of Pikeville in the tournament. 
  • Georgetown is the only MSC opponent to win more MSC titles than CU, collecting six. 
  • Shawnee State has won four straight titles and is the No. 2-seed this year.
Campbellsville vs. Cumberlands History:
  • CU and UC are meeting for the 109thtime in program history. CU leads the series 72-36.
  • CU won the first-ever meeting between the two in the 1976-77 season, 56-47.
  • Coach Ginger High Colvin finished with a 18-9 record versus former coach Melissa Irvin and Cumberlands.
  • Friday is the third meeting between Coach High Colvin and Coach Rick Reeves and the first in the MSC Tournament.
  • In the Coach High Colvin era, the Lady Tigers are 8-4 while playing in Williamsburg the last 12 years. While playing in the Powell Athletic Center, the Lady Tigers boasts a 10-2 record over UC.
  • The two have met six times in the MSC Tourney in the Colvin era and CU has a 2-4 record in that span.
