No. 11 Lady Tigers head to Brescia University for doubleheader on Tuesday

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Another eight-day hiatus from game action ends on Tuesday afternoon as No. 11 Lady Tiger softball travels to Brescia University for a doubleheader.

The Lady Tigers and Bearcats are scheduled for a 4 p.m. ET first pitch at Kamuf Park - 5500 Todd Bridge Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Both games will air on the CU Sports Network with Jordan Alves' broadcast starting at 3:45.

Last meeting with Brescia:

Campbellsville and Brescia met just a few weeks ago to open the home schedule for the Lady Tigers on Feb. 26. CU shut out the Bearcats in the doubleheader, 4-0 and 7-0.
In the two games, it was phenomenal pitching and the long ball leading the way for head coach Shannon Wathen's 599^thand 600^thwin. Morgan Gailor, Aleigha Talsma and Karson Williams shutout the Bearcats as Gailor and Talsma both tallied eight strikeouts.
At the plate, it was Ryley Whitney hitting a pair of home runs, while Lexi Miller, Dana Adkins and Payton Blades all hit solo shots. All three of those also were the first-career round trippers for their careers.

Lady Tiger Notes:

Miller has led the Lady Tigers early in the season with a .385 average. The freshman from Madisonville, Ky., was 9-fo-16 at one point but struggled at the Gulf Coast Invitational with only three hits in five games.
Mia Aldridge and Payton Blades are second on the team with 12 hits each. Blades has solidified her spot as the leadoff in the batting order, but you never know where she will end up in the field. She's played centerfield, first base and also saw time in the circle.
Aldridge has moved from the outfield to first base this season.
Riley Hurst tallied her first multi-hit game of her career by going 4-for-4 vs. Culver Stockton with seven RBI and two doubles.
Aleigha Talsma had two great games in the circle vs. Ave Maria and Houston-Victoria at the Gulf Coast Invitational (GCI). She tossed 11 innings and only allowed eight combined hit and zero runs. Talsma struggled in the finale vs. Central Methodist to push her ERA to 1.44 on the year.
Morgan Gailor struggled in her first two starts at the GCI but tossed four innings in relief vs. Central Methodist, only allowing one earned run.

14 games cancelled so far to start season, including Union College on Thursday:

The spring season has been nothing but sporadic in February and March. The Lady Tigers have been forced to cancel 14 games overall and are still seeking games for this coming weekend.
The latest cancellation was Thursday's games at Union College. After having to reschedule the doubleheader with the Bulldogs on February 20^th, Thursday's twin bill was moved due to Union needing to reschedule conference games.
CU also missed five games at the Reinhardt University Classic, two games at Centre College on Feb. 24, and four games at the Montreat College Classic last weekend.

The first regular season rankings for NAIA softball will be released on Tuesday evening.
