GRAYSON, Ky. – The offensive onslaught that Campbellsville baseball put on Brescia University on Wednesday carried over to their first game of the three-game series against Kentucky Christian University on Friday as the Tigers beat the Knights 19-1.
CU pounded out 24 hits over the seven-inning 10-run rule game with five players having three hits each and another three having two-hit games.
Big swings of the bat came from
Jack Bauer and
Adbiel Morales, who each launched home runs in the ball game. Morales hit the first dinger of the day with a two-run shot in the fourth and Bauer, who came on as a sub in the middle of the game hit his own two-run shot in the sixth.
The top of the Tigers' order was extremely productive on Friday as
Tyson Solis,
Austin Peterson, and
Tyler Deason went a combined 9-for-12 (.750) with six RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
Tony Fonzo had a bit of a bounce back game as well after struggling as of late, going 2-for-5 on the day with two RBIs and a run scored.
Not to be outdone was the CU starting pitcher
Anthony Arias, who picked up the win going five innings allowing only a single earned run on two hits with an outstanding 12 strikeouts. Arias struck out 12 of his 15 outs with only allowing a single walk in the game in 17 batters faced.
Gage O'Brien and
Logan Davis finished out the game with an inning each in relief, each going scoreless frames. It was the third-straight appearance for Davis, who has continued to put up quality outings for the Tigers during this busy week with six games in five days.
Campbellsville and Kentucky Christian will continue their series shortly today starting at noon ET. The two teams will play a doubleheader to finish off the series before CU comes back home for a single game against Talladega College on Monday at 4 p.m. ET.
