CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Eight two-out hits scored all eight runs for Georgetown College in game two vs. Lady Tiger softball and the rivals split the doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Hord Field and Veterans Memorial Park.

No. 14 Campbellsville hit three home runs in game one to earn a 5-2 win but lost 8-2 in the finale as Georgetown followed with a pair of two-out three-run long balls by the bottom of the order.

Morgan Gailor was dealing in the opener and wiggled out of a couple of jams to earn the win in the circle and improve to 10-3 on the year. Payton Blades and Hannah Judd both hit solo home runs while Riley Hurst delivered a two-run shot.

In game two, Anna Wantz (1-1) allowed all eight runs in the first three innings and gave way to Karson Williams. Williams blanked Georgetown the rest of the way but the offensive couldn't overcome an 8-2 deficit.

Game one: Campbellsville 5 Georgetown 2

Georgetown stranded five total base runners in the first two innings as Gailor worked out of jams with runners in scoring position both frames. The Lady Tigers then picked up a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the second. Ryleigh Oldham drove in Tori Humphrey with a sac fly to centerfield.

Georgetown had only two base runners in the next four innings and the Lady Tigers gave Gailor a good lead. In the fifth, Blades delivered her one-out solo homer and Hurst followed a Ryley Whitney walk to pelt her two-run shot and seventh of the season.

CU added an insurance run in the sixth with another solo shot – a one-out home run by Judd. That shot chased Georgetown's Hannah Morton from the circle after allowed five runs in 5.1 innings.

In the seventh, Georgetown was able to cut the lead to three, but it was too little too late. Kristen Klemish earned an infield single to score a run and Cassie Rannells followed with a base knock up the middle.

Game two: Georgetown 8, Campbellsville 2

Georgetown tallied eight of its 12 hits with two outs and all 10 runs for both squads came when their backs were against the wall with two outs.

The Tigers in orange and black struck first and the Lady Tigers in maroon and white couldn't overcome the deficit.

After allowing consecutive singles to lead off the second, Wantz picked up two quick outs. Hannah Howes then delivered an RBI single to centerfield and was followed with a three-run home run by Corrin Robinson from the nine hole – her first of the year.

Wantz helped herself in the home-half of the inning and pelted her first-career home runs cutting the deficit to two, 4-2.

But the most important inning was the third. After CU grabbed a little momentum back after the Wantz homer and two quick outs in the third, a double by Rannells led to an RBI single by Maddie Campbell to get the mojo back in the visitor's dugout.

Just two batters later, Cassidy Janes – the seven-hole hitter – knocked her third home run of the year over the left field fence to score three more.

Williams entered and stopped the bleeding finally for the Lady Tigers.

Campbellsville was able to get two runners on in the fourth after singles by Miller and Judd, but the Lady Tigers couldn't muster a hit the rest of the way against Audrey Dodd.

Dodd (8-8) finished throwing a complete-game six-hitter and struck out three. For CU, Williams tossed 4.1 innings and allowed five hits in relief.

Up Next:

Campbellsville will remain at home this weekend to host Kentucky Christian University on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and Saturday will begin at Noon ET.

CU will honor its two seniors – Kelly Wheeler and Morgan Gailor – before the doubleheader on Saturday.

All four games will air on the CU Sports Network.
