Men's golf claims Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational title; four finish in Top 10

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — After finishing in fourth place at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational, Campbellsville men's golf put it all together in the Spring Invitational to claim the championship.

The win for CU is the first team title Shawnee State Fall invitational in the 2016 – also played at Elks Country Club – and the CU Invitational at Rosewood Country Club.

Individually, freshman Landon Connor led the way with scores of 70-71. Connor shot a two-under 70 in the opening round, including five birdies and an eagle. In round two, he fell victim to a double bogey on the par four 12thbut rallied with five birdies throughout his round.

Austin Mahoney was also firing on all cylinders with scores of 75-72 to round of CU's top scorers. The sophomore finished with a three-over 75 in the opening round including six bogeys and two birdies, but he rallied in the afternoon session. Mahoney finished with five birdies, including three-straight to start the round, to card his even-par 72.
