Lady Tiger softball to finish series at University of the Cumberlands on Monday afternoon

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The second doubleheader of a Mid-South Conference series between No. 14 Campbellsville softball and University of the Cumberlands is set for Monday afternoon at the UC Softball Complex.

The Lady Tigers and Patriots are scheduled to begin at Noon ET for games three and four of the series. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network for complete coverage.

CU and UC Splits doubleheader on Thursday:

The Lady Tigers won 5-1 in game one on Thursday but Cumberlands blanked Campbellsville 1-0 in game two.
The Lady Tigers have only been shut out twice now. In addition to Thursday, CU was shutout the opening game of the year an 8-0 loss to Warner University.
In game one, Morgan Gailor battled out of multiple jams to only allow one run and tossed a complete-game. The win is the 10^thin conference play for the senior.
Offensively, Payton Blades, Mia Aldridge and Lexi Miller all had two hits, while Tori Humphrey led CU with two RBI.
In game two, Payton Blades was spectacular in the circle, but CU's offense couldn't give her any support. Blades allowed only two hits through five innings while Anna Wantz pitched the sixth and seventh and fell victim to the game-winning run on a fielder's choice.

Blades' 18-game hitting streak snapped but she's becoming steady leader:

Payton Blades had two hits in game one vs. Cumberlands extending her hitting streak to a season-high 18 games but didn't tally a base knock in game two.
She has been called upon in the circle and has been nothing less than stellar. She's tossed 13.1 inning, allowed eight hits and one earned run while striking out five.
Blades leads the Lady Tigers at the plate by hitting .372, has 48 hits and scored 35 runs. Her nine home runs are tied for second on the team.

Gailor is two wins away from matching career-high:

Morgan Gailor boasts a 15-3 record and is two wins away from matching last years mark of 17 victories in the circle.
Gailor is 10-1 inside MSC play and her lone loss in conference came against University of Pikeville in relief.
Her last loss as a starter came against Baker University on March 1, 11-4.
In the Mid-South Conference, Gailor is fifth in ERA (2.22) and first in wins (15).
In the opening game vs. Cumberlands last Thursday, Gailor struck out eight batters – which matches her career-high for the fourth time this season.

Game two woes:

CU softball has lost all five conference games in the second game of each doubleheader.
In those four of the five games, the Lady Tigers lost by two runs or less. The lone outlier came to Georgetown, an 8-2 loss.
Six of the eight losses overall have been by three runs or less.
In history, the Lady Tigers haven't lost more than five conference games since the 2014 season (26-10).

Tough week to finish regular season schedule:

Not only do the Lady Tigers have an upcoming weekend series with the rival Lindsey Wilson College, CU has two games vs. Cumberlands on Monday and two more at Shawnee State on Wednesday – all four are makeup games.
In total, CU will play eight games this week.
The MSC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday – Sunday, May 3-5 in Bowling Green.
