BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville University men's golf team held their position of second place after the second round of play at the Mid-South Conference Championships at the Bowling Green Country Club on Tuesday.
As a team, the Tigers shot 307, three strokes worse than Monday's final total, to move their tournament total to 611 (+35) heading into the final round. That total is 12 shots back of leader Cumberland University after their team shot 298 on Tuesday to enter the final round at 599 (+23).
Individually, everyone on the team for CU is either tied for 16
thor better with
Jon Brewington leading the way in sixth with his score of 152 (+8). Brewington birdied twice in his first nine, starting off on the back nine, making the turn at 38 (+2) and finishing the front nine with a 37 (+1) to finish the day at 75 (+3).
Justin Warman and
Halen Stamper had the second-best scores for the Tigers on Tuesday at 77 (+5). Not only did they shoot identical total scores but they shot an identical 39 (+3) in their first nine holes and 38 (+2) on their second nine holes as each had three birdies, six bogies and a double bogey in their rounds.
Landon Conner only had one mark on his card on 10-18 with a single bogey with a 37 (+1) over his first nine holes. It was the polar opposite on holes 1-9 as he only shot par on one hole with two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey.
Austin Mahoney struggled on the day for Campbellsville with an 83 (+11), 10 shots higher than his first round as he dropped from third to tied for 16
th. Mahoney only had a single birdie in his round with four bogeys and four double bogeys.
Playing as the lone individual from the CU roster,
Seth Bohl held firm at tied for 16
thafter his second-straight 78 (+6) of the tournament. Bohl didn't birdie a hole but he only had four bogeys and a double bogey throughout his round.
Campbellsville is bunched together between three teams all within three shots of second place. Georgetown 613 (+37) and Lindsey Wilson 614 (+38) are breathing down the necks of the Tigers with one round to play and all teams within 15 shots of the leading Phoenix of Cumberland.
Final round play will begin with the first group going off at 8:00 p.m. CT/9:00 p.m. ET at the Bowling Green Country Club.
