BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lady Tiger golf only had a one-stroke difference between their first and second rounds at the Bowling Green Country Club for the Mid-South Conference Championship on Tuesday as they moved to fourth place.
Their team score of 327 (+39) was only a single shot higher than the 326 (+38) they shot on Monday. They were able to jump Lindsey Wilson College to move into fourth place but still sit 23 back of the leaders of University of the Cumberlands who sit at 630 (+54).
Freshman
Paige Ferguson led the way individually for CU with her career-low score of 78 (+6), tying her previous low of the same mark that she shot at the NCCAA Women's Championships this past fall. Ferguson's front nine was even at 36 with a bogey and a birdie to help the Evansville, Ind. native shoot nine strokes better than her first round.
Michaela Jarman held steady from round to round with an 81 (+9) on Tuesday, identical to her score from Monday's opening round. Jarman was without a birdie in the round with a 39 (+3) front nine and a 42 (+6) for the second-lowest round of the day for the Lady Tigers as she sits in a tie for eighth in the individual competition at 162 (+18).
Devany Cope and
Kylie Withrow are both a shot back of Jarman after two rounds with a total score of 163 (+19) after Cope's 83 (+11) and Withrow's 85 (+13). Cope shot 40 (+4) on the front and 43 (+7) on the back but ended her day on a high note with a birdie on the 18
thhole. Withrow moved from a tie for fourth to tied for ninth after the second round after shooting seven shots higher than her first round total.
Courtney Withrow rounded out the individuals for the Lady Tigers on the day with an 87 (+15), eight shots lower than her first round total. She birdied the second hole and was an even through five holes but struggled on the back nine holes to finish with an 87.
Final round play at the Bowling Green Country Club will begin on Wednesday morning at 8:00 p.m. CT/9:00 p.m. ET with the Lady Tigers starting play in the second through sixth groups.
