BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's golf team couldn't chase down Cumberland University in the final round of the Mid-South Conference Championships on Wednesday at the Bowling Green Country Club.
The Tigers shot a 306 (+18) on the day to finish with a three-round total of 917 (+53) in second place, 16 strokes behind the Phoenix who finished at 901 for the tournament for a score to par of +37. CU was also able to finish just one shot ahead of Lindsey Wilson who came into the day three shots behind Campbellsville and shot a 304 (+16) to finish in third place.
CU was led on the day by junior
Justin Warman, who finished with his best round of the three-day event with a 74 (+2) to finish tied for seventh at a total score of 229 (+13). Warman was joined in his tie for seventh with teammate
Jon Brewington who shot 77 (+5) in the final round to move down one spot after ending the second round in a tie for sixth.
Both Warman and Brewington earned spots on the All Mid-South Conference teams as Warman earned a First Team selection after averaging 74 strokes per round at the three MSC over the 2018-19 season and Brewington earned Second Team honors with his seven-round average of 75.
Landon Conner was the other member of the Campbellsville roster to earn an All-MSC First Team selection after his final round 78 (+6) helped him finish tied for 13
thin the conference championship with a 232 (+16).
Conner's seven-round average for All Conference honors finished at 74.43 to finish right in between Warman and Brewington for his first team selection. Conner's seven-round average also placed him in third place in the Freshman of the Year running, finishing about a two-stroke average behind the Freshman of the Year, Adrian Steeger of Cumberland.
The final member of the All-Conference team from CU was
Seth Bohl, who was competing as an individual this week at the championships as he finished with a final-round score of 83 (+11) to finish in a tie for 25
thplace with his three-round total score of 239 (+23). Bohl was an All-MSC Second Team selection with his seven-round average score of 76.14.
Austin Mahoney and
Halen Stamper finished out the MSC Championship in 15
thand tied for 21
strespectively as Mahoney shot a final-round 77 (+5) as Stamper shot 82 (+10). Mahoney improved on his round-two score by six shots with three birdies on the day but eight bogeys and Stamper had a better back nine on Wednesday than the front nine with a 39 (+3) in his final nine holes.
