Kiser wins his first national title, Tigers finish in fifth at NCCAA Championships

WINONA LAKE, IN.- Sam Kiser has been dominating the 800m distance during his first two years. This afternoon, he finally claimed his first national title to help the lead the Tigers in route to a fifth place finish.
 
Kiser who finished runner-up in the indoor 800m run was able to finished at the top of the podium in a national championship for the first time in his career. His time of 1:56.02 just beat out Biola's Luke Sutherland who came in at 1:56.12. Kiser now has six total NCCAA All-American honors in his career, four of those honors coming at the 800m distance. 
 
Corbin Harris was able to finish off a stellar senior year with his fourth place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase. His time of 9:47.22 was only five seconds behind third place and All-American honors in the event. Bret Crawford, who was teammates with Harris in high school and now they finish their final meet together in college led a duo of Tigers to points in the 1500m run. Crawford crossed the line at 4:01.73, while fellow teammate Camryn Snapp came in close behind in sixth place with a time of 4:06.42.
 
In the sprints, the men's 4x100m relay team was able to earn the team three points on a cool afternoon. Garland Webb, Jaron Jackson, Jordan Thomas, and Edwin Ford were able to place sixth overall with a time of 43.11. Thomas had a short rest period to get ready for the 400m dash. He was able to pull out a point by placing eighth overall with a time of 50.46.
 
In the jumps, Brayden Russell led the day in scoring. He placed fourth overall in the event with a height of 1.96m, just .03m off of an All-American placing in the event. After his national championship jump in the triple jump last night, Garland Webb was only able to come out with three points total in the long jump. His jump of 6.91m was enough for a sixth place finish. 
 
Caleb Costin was the only athlete for the Tigers to earn points in the throws this afternoon. He was able to pick up one point in an eighth place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.56m.
 
The Tigers complete their season as a whole team, but Bret Crawford, Sam Kiser, Josiah Harp, Camryn Snapp, Garland Webb, and Brayden Russell will represent the team down in Gulf Shores, Alabama in two weeks at the NAIA National Championships.
