Lady Tiger softball signee, Katy Chadwell, earns Pitcher of the Year honors for local newspaper

DANVILLE, Ky. —Campbellsville University softball signee, Katy Chadwell, was recently named the 2019 Advocate Messenger Pitcher of the Year, the newspaper announced last week. 
 
Chadwell, a 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher from Boyle County High School product, signed with Campbellsville in December 2018. The Pitcher of the Year honor is the second in her career for the Advocate Messenger.
 
Named to the East-West All-Stars and the Kentucky All-Stars against Tennessee, Chadwell was the driving force behind Boyle County's three-peat 12th Region Championship and trip to the quarterfinals in the state tournament. She leaves a legacy at Boyle County, and will go down as one of the best to step in the circle for the Rebels.

During her career, she's been outstanding as a hitter and a pitcher in the circle. At the plate, Chadwell hit .386 with 35 RBI and 6 home runs in 2017. In 2018, she produced similar numbers - .337, 39 RBI and 5 HR. In 2019, her offensive numbers were through the roof. Chadwell hit .397 and slugged .661 with seven home runs and 44 RBI. 
 
In the circle, her numbers were just as impressive. She boasted a 19-9 record with a 2.2 ERA and 186 strikeouts her sophomore year. As a junior in 2018, she was 20-8 with a 2.1 ERA and 149 strikeouts. In 2019 as a senior, Chadwell went 20-4 with two saves, an ERA of 2.34 and 152 strikeouts. 
 
Chadwell earned First-Team All-Area in every season for the Rebels and also earned 45thDistrict and 12thRegion All-Tournament team honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2019, she was named to the All-State Tournament Team and was named the Class 2A Player of the Year and All-Area Pitcher of the Year.
 
In 2017, Chadwell was also named the Advocate Messenger Pitcher of the Year and earned a 2018 Kentucky Junior East-West All-Star game selection – both of those were duplicated for the 2019 season.
 
Chadwell is the daughter of Dale and Angie and plans to study Elementary Education at CU.
