Lady Tiger volleyball heads to Bowling Green for 2019 opening MSC Challenge

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University women's volleyball team will get their 2019 season started with four matches this Friday and Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky. at the Mid-South Conference Challenge.

The Lady Tigers will play a pair of matches each of those two days at the Ephram White Gym as they'll face Loyola New Orleans at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT followed by a matchup with Union College immediately after at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT.

On Saturday, CU will get started early with a match against Reinhardt University at 10:30 a.m. ET/9:30 a.m. CT with a short break before their final match of the weekend against Point University at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT.

Coming off of a 25-win season in his first season leading the volleyball program, head coach Eric Snyder will be working with 13 newcomers to the roster in the 2019 season. Of the 13 newcomers, four have transferred in from other universities and nine are incoming freshman preparing for their first season of college volleyball.

The six returning members, Jaimie Thompson, Irene Baroni, Paige Merrick, Sonia Flendrich, Yelyzaveta Sharkova, and Savannah Moss were all starters at one point in the season as significant contributors to the 25 wins in 2018. Merrick, Flendrich, and Sharkova were in the starting six a majority of the season with Thompson working as the team's libero as Moss and Baroni either started or came in rotationally off the bench throughout the year.

After these four matches, the Lady Tigers will return home to play three-straight home matches starting next Tuesday when they host Martin Methodist College at Gosser Gymnasium.
