WILMORE, Ky. – Needing to move the game back a day due to weather, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team got their 2019 season started on Wednesday at Asbury University.
The Eagles edged out a 1-0 win despite the Lady Tigers dominating possession and outshooting AU by 22. Asbury scored their goal with about 10 minutes to go in the second half as Susanna Terrazas slid a shot inside the left post in the 78
th minute.
CU had a distinct advantage on the stat sheet, recording 27 shots, 15 on goal, and taking 10 corner kicks to just one for Asbury. In the end, the quality of the Eagles attempt on their score outweighed the quantity of attempts at the net the Lady Tigers put forward.
Forwards
Lakin Walls and
Molly Hall had four shots on goal apiece with Hall firing eight towards the AU keeper, Carley Pyles, and Walls taking five total shots but nothing got to the back of the net.
The best chance of the match for CU came around the 67' mark when
Olja Ivanovic one-timed a feed from Walls and hit the top of the crossbar.
It will be a quick turnaround for Campbellsville as they will return home to face Ohio Christian on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium.
