CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In a match the Lady Tigers controlled, it was two goals from
Jessie Bryson that pushed Campbellsville to a 2-0 win over Rio Grande.
Early on in the first half, the Lady Tigers were developing plenty of opportunities, but were unable to capture a goal after shots from
Molly Hall and another from
Lakin Walls couldn't find the target.
Nonetheless after
Jessie Bryson entered play in the 30
thminute, she immediately found the goal forcing Jayla Brown to make some athletic saves to hold to score at zero.
Bryson, however, remained persistent pushing her third shot into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season, giving Campbellsville a 1-0 lead in the 40
thminute.
Campbellsville carried that lead into halftime, but Bryson came back out of the of the half firing scoring another goal in the minute 54. This goal came on a beautiful shot from Bryson as she received the ball in the box, broke her defender and pushed the ball into the back of the net.
These goals were enough to give the Lady Tigers their fifth win in a row, but that didn't stop the Campbellsville offense to keep trying to extend the lead.
The Lady Tiger offense outshot the Red Storm, 35-1, placing 15 on frame, but athletic plays from the goalie, Jayla Brown, limited the attack.
Campbellsville will now travel to Bethel University on Monday, September 23
rd, for a meeting with the undefeated Wildcats at 7 p.m. ET.
