Lady Tigers and Chappell come up clutch with late goal to escape Bethel with 1-0 win

McKENZIE, Tenn. – A game that seemed destined for overtime was ended in regulation with the help of a an 85th minute goal by Hailey Chappell as the Campbellsville University women's soccer team defeated Bethel University 1-0 on Monday night.

Chappell's goal was scored just inside the 18-yard box as she was assisted by freshman Jessie Bryson to finally break through a game that went scoreless for the first 84 minutes.

The game looked like the Lady Tigers were in control in the early on in the game, outshooting the Wildcats 7-2 for most of the half before BU turned it on with a barrage of shots to finish the half even at 7-7 in shots.

The second half started slow for both sides before the Lady Tigers took a little more control then finally getting their goal late in the half by outshooting the Wildcats 7-2 in the second half as a whole.

It was the busiest game of the season for CU goalkeeper Katelyn Young and she show no signs of rust, making five saves on the night for the clean sheet. The five saves for Young actually doubled her saves total on the season as she only had made five saves over the first six games for the Lady Tigers.

Campbellsville will look to take the momentum from this game into the weekend as they will head back to Tennessee, this time to Pulaski to take on No. 9 Martin Methodist on Saturday night.
