Parrott fires program record 67 to lead NCCAA Regional by 13 strokes

Parrott breaks fellow Green County product Cassidy Scantland's program record with a first-round 67

CORYDON, Ind. — A couple years ago there was a freshman from Greensburg, Ky. that re-wrote the record books named Cassidy Scantland. Her career-low of 68 went down today as another freshman from Greensburg, Gracie Parrott, shot a 67 in the first round of the NCCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament.

Parrott rolled in six birdies and had only one blemish on her scorecard with a bogey to card her lowest-ever round. The 67 beats Scantland's number as those have been the only two rounds in the 60s in Lady Tiger history.

With the 67, Parrott leads the individual field by 13 strokes. In second place is April Houk after a first-round 80. Abigal Coffey and Cortney Withrow both sit tied for fourth after 85s. Rounding out the Lady Tigers in the Top 5 is freshman Kendall Mills with a 98 and tied for 13th.

The Lady Tigers lead the team tournament by 30 strokes over Oakland City. CU shot a combined 317 in the first round, while the Mighty Oaks fired a combined 347. Kentucky Christian is the third team in the field with a first-round 373.

The second round is scheduled for Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at Old Capital Golf Club.

The winner of the two-round regional will represent the Mid-East in the NCCAA National Championship in late October. The NCCAA Championship is scheduled to be played at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
