Parrott breaks a pair of records at NCCAA Mid-East Region, Lady Tigers win first tourney of year

CORYDON, Ind. — Gracie Parrott backed up her five-under 67 from Thursday and fired an even par 72 in the final round of the NCCAA Mid-East Region to win her first-career tournament.

Parrott, a freshman from Greensburg, Ky., broke the Lady Tiger golf program record with the 67 on Thursday and after finishing the tournament at five-under, another record went down for the low 36-hole total at five-under. She breaks the record set by fellow Green County High School product Cassidy Scantland who held the Top 3 spots on the record board.

The win for Parrott is the first in her career after out-pacing teammate April Houk. Houk shot 80-79 to finish 20 strokes behind her teammate. The 79 in the second round is the lowest round for Houk in her young career for the Lady Tigers.

Cortney Withrow jumped up the leaderboard to finish solo fourth after firing her lowest-career round of 76 on Friday. Withrow finished shooting 85-76 overall.

Abigail Coffey finish in fifth place with scores of 85-83 and Kendal Mills was tied for 13^th with scores of 98-93.

As a team, the Lady Tigers won the three-team Mid-East Region. The 627 team score out-paced Oakland City (695) by 68 strokes. Kentucky Christian (733) finished in third place.

The win now qualifies the Lady Tigers for the NCCAA National Championship in late October at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.

The Lady Tigers get back in action next week up north at the Bill Bockwitz Classic hosted by Spring Arbor University. The tournament will be played at The Grand Golf Club in Jackson, Michigan.
